Description

Lot 2- Comprising five RPPC of shark sport fishing c. 1927 likely St. Thomas, V.I. (Last three photos posted of the horizontal rppc believe to include Charles Lindberg during his two visits to St. Thomas as shown in close up. )These were removed from a photograph album assembled by a sailor stationed aboard the U.S.S. GREBE, which served as the station ship in St. Thomas between 1922 and 1931. Many of the pages in the album are captioned but unfortunately these were not. Pages in the album are loose from the binding with a few missing, so we will not be selling it as a whole, but rather grouping things of interest.
Being aboard the St. Thomas port station ship, this US sailor was able to capture many rare moments, including the phenomenal arrival of Cpt. Franz  Romer, a German officer who kayaked across the Atlantic in 58 days. Additionally we are listing nine photographs of the arrival of Charles Lindbergh and his wife in St. Thomas while pioneering the Pan American route.
Lots of fantastic, one of a kind, historical photos to be listed. 5.00 for careful shipping.
